Under the strategic leadership of Founder and Director Bhavna Kakar—also the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of TAKE on Art, South Asia’s premier contemporary art publication—LATITUDE 28 has cultivated a robust network of collectors and patrons. This network extends deeply into the Global artistic ecosystems, bridging continental divides and enhancing cross-cultural dialogues.

Bhavna Kakar is the Founding Director of LATITUDE 28, a gallery for contemporary arts and ideas and TAKE on art magazine, South Asia’s leading art journal both launched in 2010. She has degrees in Painting and Art History from MS University and She has over a decade’s experience as a curator, editor, writer and art entrepreneur and has received several noteworthy fellowships and awards nationally and internationally such as the Arts Entrepreneur of the Year Award (2017) by the Federation of Indian Chambers and Commerce and Industries [FICCI, UGC – JRF Research Fellowship by the Government of India, Fellow at the International Residency programme by ProHelvetia Swiss Arts Council 2022, Office for Contemporary Art Norway (OCA) Danish Arts Council, Polish Arts Council and one of the first recipients of the ARTTHINK SOUTH ASIA FELLOWSHIP with Goethe Institute and KHOJ (2010) at the Hamburger- Bahnoff, Berlin. She’s on the jury of the UK Based Alpine Fellowship Awards.

Bhavna’s keen eye for fresh talent has brought to the Indian art scene artists, critics, writers and curators alike, whom she has fostered through conferring the annual the TAKE ON Writing symposiums and the Art Writers’ Award, that enables a researcher to work in Switzerland for 2 months and results in a well researched publication, showcasing artists and arts professionals at the world’s most celebrated international art fairs and iconic biennales, hosting seminars, residencies, ensembles and panel discussions. TAKE on Art, a biannual art journal she edits and publishes, covers relevant critiques on art and cultural events from across the globe, especially through a South Asia perspective. Its curated issues have been building alternative art histories situating uncharted territories and discourses on art, fashion, architecture, photography, food, design, film and performance. TAKE also introduces affordable artworks created in collaboration with master artists through TAKE Editions; to grow interest in the collection of art and make art accessible to new and varied enthusiasts.
