Madhav Vyas

Madhav Vyas (b. 1998) is a visual artist from Bhavnagar, Gujarat, and is currently based in Baroda. He completed his Bachelor’s degree (2014-18) in Painting, followed by a Master’s degree (2019-21) from the Graphics Department, Faculty of Fine Arts, MSU, Baroda. His practice emerges from the characters, events, and stories of his family. The works are mainly a visual re-enactment of happenings and are placed in a way that concentrates mostly on the subject. Formal visual elements become a tactical method in order to communicate better with the audience. Familial setup and the idea of nostalgia become a keypoint to enter and investigate further into his work. His works are mostly done in gouache, wood-cut, etching and also explores mediums like charcoal and video as tools of expression.
He presented his works in various group shows -Embark IV/V, Ark Foundation for the Arts, Vadodara, May 2023; The Flying Goat Show, Goa, April 2022; Baroda March, Delhi, March 2022; Abir First Take, Hutheesing Visual Art Centre, Ahmedabad, India, in 2021; Goa Affordable Art Fest, Goa in 2020; Preview Group show In-making, Fine Arts Gallery, Vadodara, India, in 2018; and Degree Show, FFA, Vadodara, 2018. He was part of NEXT-STEP Residency program at 1 Shanti Road in Bangalore, in 2023 and He participated in the Project Eco Walk organized by artist Arunkumar H.G. in Karnataka, in 2017. He has also been a part of the Digital Media workshop under Aziz Sharafi, MSU, Baroda, 2016 and Miniature Painting Workshop under Gopa Trivedi, MSU, Baroda, 2015.
