Sibdas Sengupta
(b. 1994)
Sibdas Sengupta is a conceptual Artist, Writer, Program Strategist and Curator working between Gurgaon, Haryana, and his hometown Cuttack, Odisha. He has done his BFA from B. K. College of Art and Craft, Bhubaneswar (2017) and MFA from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences from Shiv Nadar University, Dadri (2019).
As a practitioner, Sibdas works with both artistic and curatorial projects, while working with various philosophical inquiries and artistic propositions such as, the ideas around transformative affectedness in relation to different means of speed and immediacy and ideas around forgetfulness, and historical gaps, rejection, and spaces of abstraction as new forms of knowledge production. Sibdas’s practice is primarily centered around the notion of discourses through exhibitions, program structures and texts. Sibdas has worked with several organizations in the managerial and curatorial positions. Sengupta’s work experiences include Bakul Foundation, Bhubaneswar; Utsha Foundation for Contemporary Art, Bhubaneswar; Bhubaneswar Art Trail 2020; Kala Chaupal Trust, Gurgaon and Art Centrix Space, New Delhi. As a writer, Sibdas has also contributed articles to various art organizations, individuals and institutions.
As an Artist, Sibdas has participated in many group exhibitions, which include, Fleeting Identities, Young Artist Exhibition, by MASH (2022); Yuva Sambhab, curated by Meera Menezes, by Raza Foundation(2022); India Art Fair(2020); The earth is still going around the sun, curated by Mile Samdab (2019) and Student Biennale, Kochi Muziris Biennale (2016) along with various project displays such as, Second Wave Of Amnesia, Final MFA Solo Project Display, Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, Noida (2019); response to an absurd land, which doesn’t exist, Shiv Nadar University (2018) and The City Under-Wrapped, Shiv Nadar University (2018); among others.
